A snake that is found on the low bushes and trees, but rarely found on the ground. Usually eats insects, birds, and rodents. One specimen was found feeding on a shieldtail snake.

Common myt
h has it that the snake will target the eyes of a human. Hence, it is called as “Kan kotthi paambu (கண்கொத்திப் பாம்பு). It does so, because it thinks that your eyes are insects. The eyeballs keep moving and that makes the snake think that those are insects.

Again, people think that the snake is non-venomous. However, it is mildly venomous. No. It won’t kill a human but is to subdue the prey.

When they are angry, they usually keep their mouth open.
